Hi everyone!

Kimberly here, Founder & Co-Director of Let's Imagine Inc. You might have recently learned about our collaboration with Bali Children Foundation for Let's Imagine Yoga Camp. Our yoga camp takes place in the north of Bali, nearby Lovina, and we are currently teaching 2 age groups (8-12 yrs and 13-18 yrs) with approximately 30 students from Bali Children Foundation per group.

Co-Directors of Let's Imagine, myself and Shannon, have designed six modules to teach over the course of a year, and we will host yoga camp every 60 days. We rely on inspiring volunteers to make our yoga camps possible, so if it is something you or someone you know would be interested in joining, please do not hesitate to contact us!

For now, I would love to share more about Bali Children Foundation and how you can help them too!

I've taken all of the information below directly from their website. Learn more at http://www.balichildrenfoundation.org/

Bali Children Foundation Vision:

Bali’s remote rural communities have been heavily impacted by both man-made and natural disasters and many families are caught in the poverty trap with little or no income. There is minimal government assistance and all education must be paid for. The drop-out rate in rural primary schools is very high. Children frequently have no option other than a lifetime of working on the land. Our vision, at Bali Children Foundation, is to provide an educational pathway for disadvantaged Balinese children – a journey leading to growth and long term sustainability.

The Key Objectives of Bali Children Foundation Are As Follows:

  • To provide community education in remote areas of Indonesia.
  • To provide primary, secondary and tertiary scholarships to children in 49 communities.
  • To provide English in the Village (EITV) and Computers in the Village (CITV) classes in 36 locations.
  • To provide educational opportunities to children at associated Children's Homes

Bali Children Foundation Programs

Bali Children Foundation provides Community Education so that  children can live at home whilst they study at school and in BCF education facilities.

To achieve this, BCF developed a survey procedure, selected a district and started working with community leaders and families and, with their support, established education projects in villages in North and West Bali.

Although the family profiles vary, most of the families that BCF children come from are landless farm laborers who work for a landlord, receive shelter and food but very little cash income. The mothers either bead garments or make baskets to provide some funds for the household.

A majority of parents have Primary School level education, but many are functionally illiterate. Children of these families typically drop out after Primary School or early in Junior High School. The children with the most ability then leave the village seeking a better living elsewhere.  However as Bali becomes more sophisticated, prospects for uneducated workers are poor. Bali Children Foundation hopes to arrest this pattern.

Becoming involved at Primary level, BCF offers an education path for families who cannot afford senior education for their children.

How You Can Help

1. Sponsorship

There are many children in Bali living in extremely poor conditions where their only option is to drop out of primary school and work in the fields, as their fathers and forefathers have done for centuries.

These agricultural areas are shrinking with the addition of new and wider roads to accommodate the growing tourist demand for more hotels, villas and restaurants. The children in these areas will have very little or no work at all.

However, with a Bali Children Foundation Scholarship and a dedicated sponsor, these children will be able to stay at school, finish high school, get employment or go on to University or Technical College. With their strong sense of community, the whole family and village will benefit from their education.
